How is Reading’s start to the season being viewed at Madejski Stadium?

It’s been a really positive start. Performances have been good and there is a lot of optimism around the club at the moment.

Aside from the FA Cup run, last season was awful and everyone accepted in the summer that it was time for a change.

Manager Steve Clarke was allowed to conduct a massive overhaul and so far the signs are he has built a squad that can challenge for promotion.

The fans are happy and are all buying into what Clarke is trying to do.

How have the recent performances been?

Reading are in a bit of a sticky patch.

Having gone on a run where they won six games out of seven in the Championship, they have now taken just two points from their last three games.

The 4-2 defeat at Fulham, where they were 2-0 up early in the second half, was a real shock to the system.

But they responded well against Brighton on Saturday and even though they only drew, the manner of the performance was pleasing,

What was the target this season?

Clarke targeted promotion before the campaign began and has never changed his tune.

It was a brave thing to say considering Reading flirted with relegation last season - but that is the objective everyone at the club has set.

What’s the latest team news at the Madejski Stadium?

There are a few long-term injuries to key players.

Stephen Quinn is out until January with a knee injury and his absence is a real blow.

Hal Robson-Kanu (ankle) and Aaron Tshibola (ankle) are also out but other than that everyone is fit.

So what do you think the likely line-up will be?

It’s a tough one to call because Clarke always likes to make a couple of changes. But I would say Al Habsi; Gunter, Hector, McShane, Obita, Norwood, Williams, Piazon, Vydra, Blackman, Sa.

Who will be the Reading dangerman?

You can’t really look at anyone other than Nick Blackman. He’s been in sensational form and if he’s not scoring, he’s setting up goals - just as he did for Matej Vydra on Saturday.

Oliver Norwood, who Town fans know all about, is also having a fantastic season and is the heartbeat of this Reading side in midfield.

How will they approach the game?

They will attack - that’s how they play this season.

Steve Clarke sends his team out to be on the front foot straight away, to take the game to the opposition. They won’t change that.

Has Steve Clarke had anything say about Huddersfield?

He’s expecting a very difficult game against tough opponents.

Clarke remembers the problems Huddersfield caused in the league game at the John Smith’s last season and is very wary of the threat they possess.
