Huddersfield Town have completed the loan signing of Middlesbrough left winger Mustapha Carayol.

It follows the arrival on loan of Wigan Athletic midfielder Emyr Huws and Town striker Jordy Hiwula's temporary move in the opposite direction.

All three are season-long deals with January reviews.

Both Town and Boro have an option to end Carayol's stay at the turn of the year, while in the cases of Hughes and Hiwula, the decision can be made by the parent club only.

Former Bristol Rovers man Carayol is well regarded but currently down the pecking order at Boro.

Carayol, who signed a new contract through to 2017 earlier this year, has yet to feature this season, but is available for Town's home Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

He was sidelined by a knee injury in March 2014, and had a loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion last term.

His five appearances included the goalless draw with Town at the Amex Stadium in April.

Born in Banjul, Gambia, Carayol came to England as a teenager.

After spells at Swindon Town and Macclesfield Town, he was handed a first professional deal at MK Dons.

He made his senior bow during a loan stint with Crawley Town.

Carayol then had spells at Torquay United, Kettering Town (loan) and Lincoln City.

Signed by Boro from Bristol Rovers three years ago, he has made more than 200 career appearances.

Town manager Chris Powell said: "Mustapha is a player who has always been a threat due to his natural ability, raw pace and trickery.

"He has always been a name on our list of targets and now is the right time to bring him in.

"I think it's vital in this division that you have as much pace as possible."
