Nahki Wells helped Bermuda kick-start their World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign – by scoring a penalty!

The Huddersfield Town striker twice missed from the spot in Saturday’s 2-0 home Championship defeat by Fulham.

But he was on the mark from 12 yards out as Bermuda won 5-0 in the Bahamas in their CONCACAF first round, first leg tie.

Bermuda skipper Wells and his teammates will now aim to complete the job in Sunday’s second leg in Hamilton, Bermuda.

That would seal a two-legged second-round tie against Guatemala in June.

Dante Leverock opened the scoring for Bermuda in the first few minutes.

Wells notched converted a penalty in the 14th minute after Zeiko Lewis was brought down.

Lewis then scored in the 29th minute.

Bahamas were reduced to 10 men before the break after Happy Hall fouled Wells.

Justin Donawa added two more goals in the second half.
