JAMES VAUGHAN is gutted about his injury problem.

Boss Simon Grayson says the on-loan Norwich frontman is "a bit down psychologically" because of the thigh problem which will cost him a fourth missed match at Barnsley today.

The 24-year-old is having a scan which will reveal when he can make a comeback – Grayson refusing to comment on speculation it could be another month or so.

"He is slightly down psychologically because he wants to play but he’s had a few niggles over the last few months," said the boss.

"People read too much into his injury record, because the games he has missed here have not been through the knee injury he suffered previously.

"It’s more soft tissue stuff and it’s probably because of the way he plays and the way he is built, because he is a strong, powerful athlete.

"He does everything on the pitch really quickly, he’s a dynamic player and he puts himself about.

"Maybe there are things we can help him with to improve his injury record and if there are, he’ll take them on board because he’s a willing lad who wants to play every week."
