James Vaughan stepped up his comeback from a calf injury with a run-out for Huddersfield Town Under 21s.
The striker who has been sidelined since mid-September played the first 45 minutes of the game against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
His interval withdrawal from the match was pre-planned.
Joe Lolley, Duane Holmes and Daniel Carr scored in a 3-1 win for the Professional Development League II North leaders.
Vaughan, 26, has been Town’s top scorer for the last two seasons, with 14 in 2012-13 and 12 last time around.

He was a £600,000 signing from Norwich City in the summer of 2013 after being on loan from the Canaries.
Vaughan featured in the first goal after five minutes as Lolley played a one-two before shooting home.
Emmanuel Dieseruvwe claimed a quick equaliser from Ryan Croasdale’s pass.
Holmes restored Town’s lead after 37 minutes when he converted from Sondre Tronstad’s pull-back.
Carr, who had replaced Vaughan, netted just before the hour mark when he finished off a Holmes cross.
Town’s Under 21 team have won 10 of their 14 games this season.
They are next in action at home to Barnsley on Monday (1.00).
