IT WAS a West Yorkshire derby for Town fans to forget.

Chris Atkinson scored his first goal for the Terriers with a neat through-ball from Adam Clayton to slot the ball beyond Paddy Kenny in the Leeds goal to put Town one up, however the game never really took off for Town after that.

Leeds hit back to take the lead, but it was Clayton himself, however, who put Town back on level terms through another coolly struck penalty to Kenny’s left which saw the sides go in all square at the break.

Unfortunately Town never kicked on in the second half and Leeds’ dominance and midfield prowess brought another goal to send them 3-2 up through David Norris, and it was Becchio again on 86 minutes with a header to put Leeds 4-2 in the lead – and the game out of Town’s sight.

Overall, it was a disappointing match from our perspective and the absence of Beckford up front and Southern in midfield was noticeable – let’s hope to see them both back soon!

Moving onto this Saturday now which sees Bolton Wanderers visit Huddersfield for the first league encounter in 12 years.

With Town dropping to 15th in the Championship table, and Bolton currently in 18th, just three points separate the sides and this will prove to be a hard fought roses derby.

Let’s hope we can get back to winning ways and close the gap on the top six!

The Association’s away travel sees Hull City next up on Saturday, December 15 (departure time 9.30am for a 12.30pm kick-off) and Crystal Palace on Saturday, December 22 (departure time 10am for a 5.20pm kick-off) – there are still a number of coach seats left for both so fans can book by contacting the Travel Number 07926-165863.

This week’s teaser question is: Who scored a hat-trick in Town’s 4-0 win against Bolton at Leeds Road in 1990?

The first person to email the answer at competitions@htsa-online.co.uk is the winner, and this will be announced on the HTSA website and in next week's Examiner.

The answer to last weeks question: ‘Who scored Towns goal against Leeds in the 1 – 0 win at home in February 2009?’ was Nathan Clarke.

The answer will be on the HTSA site, and published in the Examiner the following week – we hope to be offering a prize in the coming weeks to whoever wins, so watch this space.

We regret to inform fans that the open evening with Simon Grayson on Thursday, December 13, at the Barclays club in Dewsbury has now been cancelled.
