Huddersfield Town fans are delighted to be able to watch Saturday’s big derby against Barnsley from all four sides of the John Smith’s Stadium.

But Barnsley say many of their fans have been left disappointed by Town’s decision to limit the number of away supporters at the Championship clash.

Town, keen to generate a big atmosphere, are taking a financial hit by opening part of the Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand to home season card holders.

That means Barnsley will be limited to 1,940 tickets, all of which have been sold, as they chase a third straight victory.

“We will not be receiving any further allocation of tickets from Huddersfield Town,” said Barnsley on their website.

“Supporters are strongly advised not to travel without a valid ticket for the game.”

Town hope the attendance will top 20,000 as they aim for a third win in four Championship games.

The club have made 1,000 £5 tickets available for the Fantastic Media (North) Stand lower tier.

Those remaining can be bought from the stadium ticket office, by ringing 01484 484123 or on-line.

The opening-day 2-1 victory over Brentford drew 18,479.

David Wagner’s side have played three successive away games, with 52,079 watching Town’s 2-1 win at Newcastle United and 34,924 the 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Tuesday.

The pre-season friendly against Liverpool at the John Smith’s was seen by 21,166.

But the last time Town topped 20,000 for a competitive home game was against Leeds United in January 2015, when 20,026 was the recorded attendance for the 2-1 defeat.
