Ian Bennett is ready for a Huddersfield Town return.

The popular former goalkeeper is now coaching at Nottingham Forest, who visit the John Smith’s Stadium for a Monday afternoon Under 21 Premier League Cup qualifying round tie (1.00).

Signed from Sheffield United, Bennett had four seasons as a Town player, making 74 appearances, including the 2011 League I play-off final and 2012 semis, before becoming academy goalkeeping coach.

The Worksop-based 44-year-old moved to Forest during the summer.

He has already been back to Huddersfield with the East Midlands club.

Forest were 2-0 winners in a Professional Development League II game at PPG Canalside.

Frankie Bunn’s in-form Town side have won all six games since.

They were 6-1 winners over Coventry City at Canalside a week ago.

Jake Charles (2), Regan Booty, Ronan Coughlan, Sondre Tronstad and Rekeil Pyke were on target.

Admission to the Forest game, which will feature extra time and penalties if required, will be £4 adults and £2 concessions (juniors, seniors and season-card holders).

Town made the quarter-finals last season, beating Barnsley, Everton and Charlton Athletic before a 1-0 defeat by Reading.
