Huddersfield Town may now be safe for another season but there is an unbeaten run to maintain between now and the end of the 2014/2015 campaign and, should they avoid defeat to Lancashire duo Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool, they will match the seven-match sequence from earlier this term.

Last weekend's 4-4 home draw with promotion chasers Derby County highlighted the very good and the very bad of this Town side as they contrived to throw away a 3-1 lead with some slack defending having played some exciting attacking football in the first half.

Gary Bowyer's side, however, will also have designs on securing a top-10 finish, something a win this weekend would absolutely guarantee and Rovers' form across the last six games mirrors that of Town's having won twice, drawn three and lost one.

Town's home record in this fixture is notably poor having picked up just two wins from 13 matches but enter this game riding on the crest of a wave after such an improved run of form and with it being their last match at the John Smith's Stadium this season.

But what are the key questions for Town ahead of the penultimate match of the season?

Here are just some things to think about as Town look to finish a topsy-turvy season on a high.

Will Chris Powell place his faith in youth?

The question regarding the promotion of youngsters has become something of a broken record in press conferences and in post-match discussions for the Town manager.

Fans are keen to see whether the handful of talented starlets from the academy can make the step up to stake a claim for more regular first-team involvement next season.

And there is certainly an argument that a final home game against Blackburn, effectively a dead rubber with precious little riding on it, represents the perfect opportunity to blood the likes of Philip Billing, Sondre Tronstad and others from the under-21 setup.

But, ever the pragmatist, Powell seems eager to see his side finish this season unbeaten and retain the high standards set in recent matches, meaning a 20-minute cameo may well be the best they can hope for.

The manager explained in depth at his pre-match press conference the pressures facing academy graduates when making the huge step up from youth football and recalled his own experiences as a trainee at Crystal Palace as a way of illustrating how important finding the right time and the right balance.

Can Oscar Gobern keep up his recent good form?

Perhaps if Gobern's resurgence had not occurred in light of Jonathan Hogg's recent injury lay-off, Billing may well have had a look-in sooner, but the out-of-contract midfield man has seized his chance since breaking into the XI.

He has excelled in various aspects, aiding his side defensively against both Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest as well as providing a cutting edge in front of goal to score against Derby County last weekend.

The challenge he faces is to produce this form on a regular basis and he can go some way to defying those who feel his upturn in fortunes is linked to the prospect of a new deal by helping Reece James deal with the dual threat of Ben Marshall and Paul Taylor down the Rovers right.

He spoke confidently at the press conference about wanting to focus solely on the task at hand - finishing the season strongly individually and as part of the collective and is refusing to place too much importance on a new deal until the final ball is kicked at Blackpool.

But you could forgive him believing he has done enough to merit one should he produce another commanding midfield display here.

Will Town summon the defensive spirit from the last time these two sides met?

When the Terriers travelled to Ewood Park last October, they had just secured arguably their finest result of the season with a 3-1 win at Wolves which would ultimately prove the catalyst for a seven-game sequence without a loss.

They then proved to their away support that they could go one better and register a first away clean sheet of the season and just a second overall with a committed display to keep former hotshot Jordan Rhodes.

Their task will be made that little bit more difficult with the presence of Rudy Gestede alongside him in attack this weekend, but that performance in itself can help an increasingly settled backline prove a four-goal lapse against Derby was a mere blip.

Powell was keen to stress he expects a defensive improvement from his side next term and will target recruits to assist him in achieving just that, but the existing members of the defence will be doubly keen to prove they can be relied upon next season.

Silencing the second-most potent frontline in the division (Rhodes and Gestede have 37 goals between them, Watford's Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo have 40) is certainly achievable given Town's record against the so-called 'big' teams in this division and can convince the manager moving into next season.
