Huddersfield Town return to Championship duties tomorrow by hosting Blackpool at the John Smith's Stadium tomorrow afternoon .

The international break interrupted the rhythm Town had found in securing back-to-back wins over Millwall and Wolves and a 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers a fortnight ago.

Blackpool also come into this game off the back of a positive result after sealing their first league success of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Cardiff City at Bloomfield Road.

But the Seasiders remain in relegation trouble on six points, four adrift of Wigan Athletic in 21st place, and have a series of injuries to contend with ahead of their visit across the Pennines.

Riga's men are also the lowest scorers in the division with just six goals to their name, with only fellow strugglers Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers also failing to reach double figures.

Here are the three battles which could decide the meeting between the two teams at the John Smith's Stadium as Town go in search of a third successive league win.

Conor Coady v David Perkins

Conor Coady v David Perkins

The Blackpool man has been one of the key figures amid the recent revival and keeps Pool ticking over with clever short passing, something Coady will have to disrupt.

Town's midfield general capped a wonderful individual start to the season with a stunning goal against Wolves and it should provide more hunger for him to get into advanced areas and be amongst the goals.

He is more likely to do so against Pool then his midfield counterpart, whose role is designed to prevent players like Coady from making darting runs through the middle.

Both are intelligent with the ball and positionally sound without it, so it will be a test for both and one that could be crucial to deciding the outcome of the match one way or another.

Grant Holt v Peter Clarke

Grant Holt v Peter Clarke

A fascinating tussle is on the cards between one of Town's newest recruits and a defender who made over 200 appearances for the Terriers during a five-year stay at the club.

Neither will want to be upstaged in the inevitable physical battle that will ensue between the two and both enter the game in fine form, particularly Holt who has settled seamlessly into his new surroundings.

Clarke is expected to take his place in the starting XI after sufficiently proving his fitness and would surely love to get one over on his former employers after being deemed surplus to requirements at the end of last term.

Nahki Wells may have other ideas given his surprise decision to target Grant Hanley over Shane Duffy at Blackburn but the opportunity for Holt to go head-to-head against another burly individual is an appealing one.

If Holt wins it, Town's supporting cast can wreak havoc but if Clarke comes out on top, the onus will fall heavily on Wells to produce the goods.

Harry Bunn v Tony McMahon

Harry Bunn v Tony McMahon

Town's star man, according to supporters, so far this season and his second burst of matchwinning form in 2014/2015 helped yield two wins and a draw.

Against Millwall he essentially grabbed two assists and helped himself to a goal at Wolves to adorn his display but he must equally be lauded for the responsible defensive shift he put in against Rovers to help secure a point.

This particular duel appears something of a mis-match on paper but McMahon has been a solid, robust character in a Pool backline which has one of the better defensive records in the bottom half of the division.

Indeed, only four teams outside the top nine have conceded less than Blackpool's goals against tally of 14.

He's a throwback to a bygone era as right-backs go in the modern game in that he is a defensively-orientated player who remains rigid in his positioning, representing a different task for Bunn to his previous one.
