Key Events
FT Huddersfield 2-3 Cardiff
That’s it - Harry Bunn’s late strike proves in vain as Town are unable to salvage a point from this Championship encounter.
Gunnarsson booked
89. Gunnarrsson booked for bringing down Wells - the man himself hits the wall and then hits it out of control across the box at the second attempt.
Town change
85. Second sub by David Wagner as Flo Bojaj comes on for Kyle Dempsey. Does he have time to make an impact?
Cardiff third
Davidson gave the foul away right on the edge of the penalty area - although from our vantage point it looked as if it might have been inside to be honest.
No matter, Whittingham made sure it counted with a powerful whipped kick into the top corner.
Goal Cardiff
78. Cracking free kick from Peter Whittingham into the top corner - nothing Steer can do about that one.
Huddersfield 1-3 Cardiff
Woodwork!
76. From the resulting free kick, Whittingham has a go from range and Steer does fantastically well to ush the ball onto the bar. Top save.
Handball given
72. The referee sees that one as handball! It’s about 35 yards out on the far left mind. Fabio booked.
Whitehead into the box and it’s an acrobatic attempt by Nahki Wells which Marshall saves.
Cardiff change
69. Federico Macheda replaces Anthony Pilkington for the visitors.
Joel Lynch maybe lucky to escape a second booking after leaving a foot in on Marshall. Town need to channel frustration into positive chances not overly risky challenges.
Penalty shout
66. Town fans want a penalty for handball there from a corner but the referee isn’t at all interested - and waves away the claims in dramatic fashion!
Looked like a good case and you can understand the frustration.
Easy finish
Good work from Ameobi on the right hand side to create an easy finish for Immers at the far stick.
Town behind again and need fresh inspiration.
Town on the up
58. David Wagner’s side have started this half the stronger - only a strong Manga interceptions has denied Wells, while Jamie Paterson has just put in a great cross for Matmour but he is offside.
Wide!
50. Much better start to the second half! Great build-up by Town, and a great cross by Kyle Dempsey finds Bunn around the penalty spot but his shot is the wrong side of Marshall’s post.
Town chance!
46. Argh! Almost immediately! Nahki Wells looked odds on to score but cracking block there by Fabio.
HT Huddersfield 1-1 Cardiff
All square at the break thanks to Nahki Wells’ excellent equaliser.
Two goals in four minutes the spark of an otherwise uneventful half of football.
Great goal from Wells
More on that strike from the Bermudian - fantastic goal. Pass came from the left, with his back to goal and surrounded by two defenders Wells turned and struck low to Marshall’s left and into the corner.
Hopefully the spark Town need!
Cardiff open the scoring
