SO close for Town last night.

Three goals and more chances but the men in blue and white couldn't quite make the comeback stick.

Here are the ratings from our HTAFC reporter Doug Thomson.

NICK COLGAN
A confident Town debut and first outing of the season anywhere from the former Grimsby keeper. 8

LEE PELTIER
Reverted to right-back, got forward with gusto, and came out on top in his duel with Ben Marshall. 8

KEVIN KILBANE
Filled the left-back slot competently but also pushed forward with alacrity to give Town extra bite. 8

JOEY GUDJONSSON
A busy display by the midfielder who got about the pitch and contributed in both defence and attack. 8

PETER CLARKE

The skipper defended very solidly, went upfield often and came close to a goal with a cheeky backheel. 8

JAMIE McCOMBE
Played his part in the clean-sheet effort and like Clarke, used his aerial power to support the attack. 7

ANTONY KAY
Produced a gritty midfield display before making way for Danny Cadamarteri as Town bolstered their attack. 7

SCOTT ARFIELD
Back in the starting side and put in a busy midfield shift as Town dominated in that department. 7

ANTHONY PILKINGTON
Took his 13th goal of the season really well and caused problems with his probing runs and set-piece skills. 8

ALAN LEE
Another bright performance from the frontman whose headed double tested Carlisle’s resolve. 8

GARY ROBERTS
Tore into the visitors from the off and stretched their defence with a series of determined runs. 8

Substitutes:
Danny Cadamarteri (for Kay, 57mins) 7.
