SIMON GRAYSON will send Huddersfield Town into action against Scunthorpe at the Galpharm tomorrow with the simple instruction: “Get that play-off place booked.”

While a one-point haul would mean Town can be denied only on goal difference by Notts County, Carlisle or Stevenage, a win would mean a final League I placing of fourth or fifth.

Grayson’s side have suffered three defeats on the spin and four in their last five, but the boss insisted: “We’re confident about going up.

“Most sides have a spell of not playing as well as they can do at some stage in a season, and ours has come late.

“But there’s no doubt this is an exciting and talented group, and it’s about translating what we see on the training ground every day into a match situation.

“The players are focused and I want them to go out and get the job done tomorrow, then we can start looking forward rather than back.

“Getting into the play-offs is the key thing, because history shows that once you’re involved, anybody can do anything regardless of their position.”

The Galpharm boss, who enjoyed two convincing wins over Scunthorpe when in charge of Leeds last season, will today run a check on Alex Smithies.

The keeper has had the stitches removed after suffering a lacerated ear in a freak training-ground collision with Danny Cadamarteri.

Ian Bennett returned for last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Preston, and will keep the shirt if Smithies’ injury hasn’t healed sufficiently.
