Joel Lynch reviewed Huddersfield Town’s destruction of Yeovil and smiled: “A win like that has been coming for a while.”

In the absence of injured leading marksman James Vaughan, who missed a second game with a knee problem, the centre-back was one of four different scorers for Mark Robins’ side, who are now up to 11th in the Championship.

It’s the halfway point of the season, and Lynch said: “If you look back, we’ve only played badly against Birmingham, when we let ourselves down.

“Otherwise, we have always been competitive, and I think we were due a big win like this.

“We created plenty of chances and we took a good proportion of them and hopefully there are more scorelines like this to come.”

The 26-year-old Wales international made his first start since his red card in the 1-0 home defeat by Reading three games earlier, and was impressed by the form of his two young central defensive colleagues Tommy Smith (21) and Murray Wallace (20).

“I thought they were both excellent,” added Lynch.

“I don’t feel older than them, because they are both so calm and composed.

“Murray has come in from absolutely nowhere and has been fantastic in the last three games and both him and Tommy are doing so well.

“They are great to play alongside because they are so confident on the ball and aggressive in the tackle.”

Yeovil remain second-bottom and boss Gary Johnson said: “We knew Huddersfield at home can be very potent.

“We were very poor in the first half and a bit weak. We spoke some home truths at half-time and we came out and created more chances in the second half, but we weren’t good enough to take them. Maybe it’s time to make a few changes.”
