Huddersfield Town will face Brighton and Hove Albion in a SkyBet Championship top-of-the table clash tonight in front of the SKY TV cameras.

Another bumper crowd is expected with the game also seeing the return of the iconic Leeds Road Cowshed to matchdays.

Chris Hughton's side travel to the John Smith's Stadium in the top two automatic promotion slots after winning all but one of their league fixtures since the turn of the year.

Similarly, David Wagner's men have only lost twice in the last 10 league games and go into the fixture buoyed by an impressive 4-0 Fourth Round FA Cup victory over Rochdale.

Ahead of the game, Steven Downes looks at previous meetings between the two sides since Huddersfield Town have been back in the second tier.

Brighton 1-0 Huddersfield Town

David Wagner's side went into the game at the AMEX stadium in excellent form, flying high at the top of the Championship and unbeaten in the league since the start of the season.

However, on a disappointing night on the South Coast, Anthony Knockaert snatched at late winner, taking a shot that Danny Ward could have done a lot better with.

Brighton 2-1 Huddersfield Town

The first meeting of the season came under then-manager Chris Powell, against table toppers Brighton & Hove Albion at the John Smith's Stadium.

It was a horrendous start for the blue and white stripes, as Beram Kayal scored inside 18 seconds to give the Seagulls a very early lead.

However, Jacob Butterfield's 54th minute equaliser gave Town a well earned point.

The return January fixture at the AMEX saw David Wagner at the helm, having been appointed as the club's head coach a few months earlier.

Bobby Zamora and James Wilson got the goals for the Seagulls in a 2-1 win, scoring on the 30th and 66th minute respectively with Harry Bunn with Town's goal on the stroke of half-time.

Huddersfield Town 1-1 Brighton

Brighton 0-0 Huddersfield Town.

Both games ended in a draw in the 2014/15 season, both under the stewardship of Chris Powell.

The 1-1 draw at home was the most intriguing encounter of the two - Jacob Butterfield giving Town the lead but Lewis Dunk equalising for the visitors just before half-time.

Meanwhile, in the reverse fixture at Brighton, the goalless draw meant Town picked up the vital point they needed to mathematically secure another season of Championship football.

Brighton 0-0 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town 1-1 Brighton

Both fixtures in this campaign were under the watchful eye of ex-Town boss Mark Robins, and just like Powell, both ties ended in a draw.

The away fixture against the Seagulls was a 0-0 draw, however it was the first clean sheet an opposing team had kept in Brighton that season.

The game also signalled Anthony Gerrard's 350th career start, as he had to guided a young Town back-line through the game.

The home tie later in the season finished 1-1, with Oliver Norwood giving Town an early lead.

It wasn't until the 83rd minute that Brighton managed to muster an equaliser when Bruno Saltor sneaked in the late goal to snatch a point at the John Smiths Stadium.

Huddersfield Town 1-2 Brighton

Brighton 4-1 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town's 2-1 home defeat to Brighton that season saw the first game of a 12 consecutive defeat run – a run that eventually saw the dismissal of Simon Grayson.

A Will Buckley brace sank Town with Simon Church scoring a late consolation goal.

The reverse fixture was Town's first trip to the AMEX stadium, and after Grayson had been sacked, by the time the away tie had come around Mark Robins was in charge.

However, a Leonardo Ulloa hat-trick and a David Lopez penalty meant Town headed back to Yorkshire on the end of a hammering - James Vaughan was the only scorer for Town that day.
