Two goals from set pieces proved Huddersfield Town’s Under 21 side’s undoing as they were beaten 2-1 in their pre-season friendly at Brighouse Town.

The bonus was another pre-season goal for striker Flo Bojaj on the back of his recent hat-trick at AFC Emley.

However, Town’s senior professional development coach Frankie Bunn felt there was plenty for his young players to improve on.

“There are always positives and negatives and it was a stiff test,” said Bunn.

“Brighouse were quite physical and aggressive at times, which you have to learn to cope with – no matter what age you are.

“The players also learning about game management and when to stay on your feet and when to go into a challenge hard and firm.

“I think Brighouse were the best team we’ve played against this pre-season by far, so it was tougher.

“They didn’t play through us and our players stood up to the physical challenge quite well at times.

“Unfortunately we conceded from two set plays, which isn’t the norm for us; we brought someone down for a penalty and then switched off at the far post from a corner.”

While Bojaj, who took his pre-season tally to four goals in three games with a late strike from a corner, grabbed the limelight coach Bunn said the 19-year-old is still learning about the game.

“Flo was quiet and a little untidy at times. The opposition was a bit tighter and he has to learn to do better,” added Bunn.

“We also wanted him to get in the box more and we spoke to him about that at half-time. In the second-half he poached himself a goal from a set play, which was pleasing.”

Ernest Boafo and Delroy Facey's brother Danny were on the scoresheet for Brighouse Town.

Next up for the Development Squad is a final pre-season friendly at Vanarama National League North outfit Stalybridge Celtic on Monday.
