There's just no stopping hot shot James Vaughan!

The red-hot frontman led the 5-1 Championship thrashing of Bournemouth with the hat trick which continued the best scoring start to a season by a Town player since Allan Gilliver in 1965-66.

But as Vaughan, the £600,000 close-season buy from Norwich, made it seven goals in the first five games, Town’s two Adams, Hammill and Clayton, answered manager Mark Robins’ call for some additional names on the scoresheet.

Hammill, once again playing at right wing-back in a 3-5-2 formation, opened the floodgates with his 14th-minute goal and smiled: “It was a brilliant win against a side who are much better than this score suggests.

“The boss has given us confidence and the freedom to express ourselves.”
