LEEDS United, who visit Huddersfield Town on Saturday, November 7, have sacked manager Uwe Rosler.

Former Rotherham United boss Steve Evans is taking training today and being tipped for the job.

Rosler, 46, appointed as Neil Redfearn’s replacement in May, becomes the fifth Leeds manager to be axed by chairman Massimo Cellino.

United slipped to a third straight Championship defeat on Saturday, losing 2-1 at home to Brighton, and are 18th, a place below Town and three points above the relegation zone.

Leeds play Fulham in London on Wednesday, with Scotsman Evans likely to be in charge.

Ex-Wigan Athletic and Brentford boss Rosler signed a two-year contract at Elland Road when he was appointed, but has become the latest manager to pay the price for Cellino’s demanding standards.

Cellino has already fired Brian McDermott, David Hockaday, Darko Milanic and Redfearn since completing his takeover.

Scotsman Evans, 52, left Rotherham by mutual consent last month, having led the Millers to successive promotions in 2013 and 2014.

He previously managed Crawley Town and Boston United.

Evans’ assistant at Rotherham was ex-Town striker Paul Raynor.
