Huddersfield Town striker Danny Carr could be in League II action for Mansfield tonight after joining them on loan.

The 20-year-old’s spell at Field Mill lasts until November 17 and he could make his debut for them against the League’s bottom club Tranmere Rovers, who are under the guidance of new manager Mickey Adams.

Carr signed for Town in April 2013 after netting 25 goals for non-league Dulwich Hamlet, but the Londonder has made just one first-team start at the John Smith’s in the Capital One Cup at Hull City last term.

He also has two substitute appearances under his belt in the Championship but is keen for more League experience, just like Matt Crooks who has joined Hartlepool for a month.

Town boss Chris Powell said: “Mansfield is a good club challenging for promotion in a very competitive League and is an ideal environment for Daniel to go and play in the division.

“We’ll watch him very closely during his initial month at the club. Hopefully Daniel can showcase his ability and goal-scoring knack, because we can’t offer him first-team football here at the moment.”

Carr has made six starts and two substitute appearances for the Under 21s this season, scoring once, having been on loan to Fleetwood last term.

Mansfield, managed by Paul Cox, sit 16th in League 2 with 17 points from the opening 13 games.
