GARY ROBERTS is itching to put the record straight as Town chase a first win in three meetings with Exeter tomorrow.

The Grecians staved off relegation from League I by beating Lee Clark’s team 2-1 at St James Park on the final day of last season.

Then ex-Town loan player Paul Tisdale’s team came to the Galpharm in November and snatched a 1-0 victory.

Roberts struck at the double as Town stayed third with a solid 2-0 home win over Carlisle on Tuesday, when Exeter were beaten 2-1 at home to Southampton.

And now the man who netted twice for Accrington in a 3-1 Conference win at Exeter five years ago is hungry for more Devon delight.

With Joey Gudjonsson, who has responded to treatment on a hamstring injury, and Danny Cadamarteri, back at Town for a second spell, in the travelling party, Roberts said: “We’re going there for three points.

“As we went into the New Year, we made the pledge to try and go through the rest of our league fixtures unbeaten, and we’ve managed six games so far.

“It’s about being as consistent as possible and keeping on getting those points on the board.

“It won’t be an easy game, because it’s always a tough place to visit.

“But Brighton and Southampton have both won there this time, and there’s no reason why we can’t follow suit.”

Boss Clark, among the nominees for the January manager of the month award, is delighted at the progress made by Gudjonsson, who hobbled off during the Carlisle clash.

“It’s clearing up nicely and we’re optimistic about his chances,” he said.

“Danny Cadamarteri has joined in with the group like he’s never been away, and he’ll come into consideration as well.”

Scottish international left-back Gary Naysmith suffered no reaction to his first appearance since August against Carlisle and Clark added: “It’s fantastic to have a player of his class and experience available again.”
