HUDDERSFIELD Town's appeal over Keith Southern's red card at Charlton has been rejected by the Football Association.
The 31-year-old midfield player received a straight red card from Surrey referee Lee Collins after a challenge on Charlton's Michael Morrison in the 1-1 draw at The Valley.
Manager Simon Grayson felt the decision was harsh and received backing from Charlton boss Chris Powell and centre-back Morrison himself, but FA disciplinary chiefs threw out the appeal.
The decision means Southern will sit out tonight's Championship trip to Middlesbrough, when Town are also without suspended Adam Clayton, Saturday's big John Smith's Stadium lunchtime derby against Leeds United and the following home game against Bolton Wanderers.
He will be available again when Town visit Steve Bruce's Hull on December 15.
