Will Elliott Ward reach the 300-match milestone with Huddersfield Town?

The Championship club are set to extend the centre-back’s loan from Bournemouth.

Ward has played five times for Town since being recruited in the aftermath of skipper Mark Hudson’s ankle injury.

Hudson is back in the picture – he was an unused substitute at Wolves last time out.

But with Murray Wallace out on loan at Scunthorpe United (with Town teammate Joe Lolley), boss Chris Powell doesn’t want to lose Ward, who has 295 career appearances (and 22 goals) to his credit.

Statistics show the 30-year-old has made 14 interceptions, blocked two shots and made 25 clearances.

His tally of 41 defensive actions is behind only fellow centre-back Joel Lynch, midfielder Dean Whitehead and left-back Jason Davidson.

Elliott Ward's loan from Bournemouth to Huddersfield Town can be extended

Of West Ham United product Ward’s 295 games, 272 have been in the league.

While with the Hammers, he was loaned to Peterborough United, Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle before making a £1m move to Coventry City in 2006.

After more than 100 Sky Blues games and loans at Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End, he joined Norwich in 2010.

Ward was twice loaned to Nottingham Forest before being signed by Bournemouth in 2013 (he is contracted until next summer).

His time at Dean Court has been injury-plagued.

Bournemouth’s Capital One Cup first-round win at Exeter City in August 2014 was his last competitive 90-minute run-out for the club.

He returned to come off the bench against Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday towards the end of last season’s Championship promotion campaign.

But he was not included in the South coast club’s 25-man Premier League squad.
