Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with a loan move for Nottingham Forest striker Dexter Blackstock – possibly in time for Saturday’s lunchtime derby against Huddersfield Town.

The 28-year-old’s last goal, during a loan stint at Leeds United last season, came at the John Smith’s Stadium, Town winning the Championship clash 3-2.

Blackstock, who is back to full fitness following a knee injury, has played only once for Forest this season, in the 3-1 Capital One Cup defeat by Tottenham Hotspur.

Notts County are also said to be interested in a player who began his career at Oxford United and has also been at Southampton and QPR.

Blackstock, an Antigua & Bermuda international, has had previous loan stints at Plymouth Argyle and Derby County and has scored 85 goals in 316 games at club level.
