Huddersfield Town's Yorkshire derby away to Barnsley is one of the biggest goal-fests in the top four divisions.

The two clubs will meet this summer in an August 1 pre-season friendly with clashes between the two clubs in South Yorkshire averaging four goals per game since the formation of the Premier League in 1992-93.

The goals have generally gone Barnsley’s way though with results such as 1998’s 7-1 victory helping them record 28 goals to the Terriers’ 12.

Only two other fixtures to have been played 10 or more times have averaged more goals - Barnet at home to Lincoln and Chelsea at home to Sunderland.

Neither Barnet nor Lincoln have been in the football league since the 2010-11 season, though Barnet won promotion from the Conference this season.

While they were both in the top four divisions though the sides met a total of 13 times at the North London club’s ground, scoring a total of 56 league goals in the process, 4.3 per game.

Those games include a 5-3 win for Barnet and a 5-0 away win for Lincoln.

Chelsea and Sunderland have met 13 times at Stamford Bridge in league matches in the Premier League era, and have scored 53 goals between them in the process.

That’s an average of 4.1 per game.

However, most of those goals have gone Chelsea’s way with the West London club scoring 39 to Sunderland’s 14.

Another away day for Lincoln fans is the joint third most goal-friendly fixture of the Premier League era - away to Mansfield.

Games between the two Midlands clubs at Mansfield have averaged four goals per game.

That’s the same as Torquay v Carlisle, Tranmere v Portsmouth, Barnsley v Huddersfield and Peterborough v Wycombe.

Stockport at home to Swindon has averaged 3.9 goals per game over the years, while a total of six fixtures have averaged 3.8 goals per game.

Of those, Burnley at home to Watford has seen the most goals (57) , though at 15 games it has been played more frequently as well.
