Sean Scannell has earned praise for his early pre-season work.

It’s been suggested Town will listen to offers for the 23-year-old .

Scannell, signed from Crystal Palace two years ago, has a year left on his contract .

And it seems he has been hard at it since Town, who yesterday flew out to Portugal for seven days, returned to work the week before last.

Manager Mark Robins , who watched a 3-1 win over Cypriot side AEL Limassol in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Canalside on Saturday, said: “Sean has returned with the bit between his teeth and is working really hard.”

Robins, whose side will take on Doncaster behind closed does on the Algarve tomorrow, is happy with his whole squad.

“The quality if the work has been pleasing and the players have been really conscientious. I think for the most part they have enjoyed it, despite it being tough,” he said.

“Portugal will provide us with a different environment and all us to continue the work we have started.

“It is a brilliant chance to get everyone together for an extended period of time and it gives the new players and staff a decent opportunity to get to know everybody.”

Nahki Wells, Ollie Norwood and Martin Paterson (penalty) scored the goals against Champions League entrants Limassol.
