Jordan Sinnott netted twice as Town’s Under 21 squad chalked a 3-2 home win against Nottingham Forest to take another big step towards the Professional Development League Division II title.

Steve Eyre’s side were 3-0 up at the break at PPG Canalside thanks to Sinnott’s efforts and another striker by Cristian Lopez.

The goals came in the space of five frantic minutes and left Forest reeling.

Town, who had Joe Lolley in the side along with Calum Woods, Murray Wallace, Oscar Gobern and new signing Sondre Tronstad, went in front on the half hour from the penalty spot, captain Sinnott doing the honours.

Three minutes later Sinnott was on the scoresheet again and, before Forest could draw breath, Lopez had added to their woe.

Forest had to wait until 20 minutes from time to break through and, when they notched another six minutes later, it looked as though the fightback could be on, but league leaders Town held firm.

Town’s starting line-up – Allinson; Woods, Wallace, Wright, Sinnott (c); Tronstad, Gobern, Crooks; Bunn, Cristian, Lolley.
