Ian Kirkpatrick has replaced Arsenal-bound James Haycock as Huddersfield Town’s lead physio.

There’s a promotion for Dave Hanson, who has been working with the Under 18s.

And former Town skipper Jon Worthington has returned to the club as academy physio.

The 32-year-old, who came through the youth system as a player, spent last season as physio at FC Halifax Town.

Haycock, who had three years at Town, will work under Colin Lewin as part of Arsenal’s physio team.

Town’s new head of medical Kirkpatrick worked with Haycock at Hartlepool United.

The Northumbria University graduate has also had a spell at Wigan Athletic and at a Lancashire hospital.

He has been at integral part of Town’s first-team set-up and has been a regular in the dug-out.

Town manager Chris Powell said: “Although we are disappointed to see James leave, we recognise this is a great opportunity for him.

Dave Hanson Huddersfield Town assistant physiotherapist

“He’s the second member of our staff to join a top Premier League side in recent weeks (after Southampton-bound football operations chief Ross Wilson).

“That’s a feather in the cap of our club. It is testament to the individuals concerned, but also to the recruitment and the environment, which allows people to develop and progress in their careers.

“That’s good for them and good for the club.

“Part of the club’s philosophy is to promote from within where possible – and that is the case for both Ian and Dave.

“We have excellent backroom staff and this offers great continuity going into the new season.”
