STRIKE sensation Luke Beckett confirmed today he would love to stay with Town.

The 28-year-old frontman is out of Town's price bracket for a permanent move from Sheffield United.

But after his fifth goal in three matches earned a 1-1 fightback draw against Luton, he is praying to stay on loan for at least another month.

"I'm playing matches and scoring goals so I would love to stay, especially with the fans being so brilliant to me," said Beckett, whose initial month finishes after the MK Dons match on Saturday.

"My time here just gets better and better and, because United could recall me at 24 hours notice in the second month, I'm hoping I can stay. I'd certainly be very happy to extend the loan.

"In my last few weeks at United I wasn't even getting on the bench, so unless I was going back there to play it would be much better to stay and play here.

"United have got a bid in for Ade Akinbiyi which might influence things and the 24-hour recall helps, but from my point of view I would be delighted to carry on playing and scoring goals here.

"Unless I was going back to play with United, rather than just being on the bench or part of the squad, I would love to stay here."

Manager Peter Jackson said: "Luke has done a great job and I will definitely be talking to Neil Warnock about extending the loan for another month."
