HUDDERSFIELD TOWN striker Jimmy Spencer’s ongoing injury problems could send Crawley Town back into the transfer market when the loan window opens tomorrow.

The 21-year-old joined the League I club on loan for the remainder of the season on January 11, but hasn’t figured because of a damaged knee.

The injury is taking longer to heal than expected, and Crawley boss Richie Barker, who is among those linked with the Town vacancy, said: “It’s not good news.

“The initial injury isn’t getting any better and with the uncertainty over Jimmy, it could well be that we need to bring someone else in.”

It’s a fifth spell away from Town for academy graduate Spencer, who has been at Northwich, Morecambe, Cheltenham and Brentford previously.

The Leeds-born player has figured twice for Town – in the starting side in the 2-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Preston and from the bench in the 1-0 Championship loss at Cardiff, both in August.

Town midfielder Anton Robinson, who was last week loaned to Gillingham for the rest of the season, came on as a substitute in Monday’s 1-0 home loss to Wycombe in League II.

And development midfielder Scott Kay made his loan debut for Blue Square Premier side Southport as they drew 2-2 at Hereford on Saturday.

Two other Town men are out on loan – full-back Liam Ridehalgh at League II Rotherham and striker Kallum Higginbotham at Scottish Premier League Motherwell.

Higginbotham has yet to make an appearance for the Steelmen.
