HEYWOOD Irish Centre are just one point away from securing the Sunday League title.

Their midweek 4-1 victory against Marsh Lib, plus three points awarded to them from the abandoned match against GNG Sikh Temple, has put them within touching distance of the crown.

In Division II Cricketers Arms extended their impressive unbeaten run after a midweek 3-1 victory against Rose and Crown, backed up by a resounding 8-1 rout against Gas Club.

Jackie Walker fired in four goals for a second successive week and his tally was supported with further goals from Richard Hirst (2), Aaron Kirk and Dean Johnson.

The result leaves Cricketers level on points with Helion and the crunch match, to decide who may seal top spot, takes place tomorrow morning at Almondbury High School.

Elsewhere, 10-man White Horse put up an excellent show at Honley Socialist.

They lead 2-1 at the break with goals from Duncan Duffy and Daniel Remhorn.

But the extra-man told in the second half and Honley edged it 3-2 with goals from Rikki Howe, Richard Cooper and Jonathan Kibblethwaite.
