TOWN Ladies Reserves took centre stage after the first team’s Northern Women’s Combination clash at Bradford City was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

While they prepare to face basement side Liverpool Feds at Warrenside this Sunday (2.00), the second string can reflect on a 13-0 drubbing of Tingley Athletic Reserves.

That set them up nicely for Sunday’s West Riding Women’s League Cup first-round clash with Wigton Moor (1.00) – a meeting of the Second Division’s top two.

Town, who trail Wigton Moor by three points, opened the scoring against Tingley in the seventh minute, when Shauna Messenger finished from Kate Priestley’s cross.

Alice Linsell put Town two up on 15 minutes and after a short spell of pressure from Tingley, Town took control, with midfielder Emma Poole influential.

Linsell completed a hat track and further goals from Messenger, Raegen Cartledge and Priestley made it 7-0 at half-time.

Messenger notched three more in the second half and Linsell also finished with five goals while Rebecca Moore got the other.

Town’s Under 18s are second to Barnsley in the Sheffield and Hallamshire League First Division after a 6-0 win at Sheffield United Junior Blades in which Linsell scored twice.

The first half was even, but Town were able to impose their controlled passing game after taking a 50th-minute lead through Georgia Cooke.

Linsell scored from close range on 56 minutes, and after Hannah Leech netted, grabbed her second of the game.

Bex Moore made it five in the 80th minute before Mel Sutcliffe scored the best goal of the game with a scorching shot from the edge of the area.

The Under 15s gained a second win of their Sheffield and Hallamshire First Division campaign, 4-2 at home to Pogmoor.

After conceding an early goal, Town levelled through Katie Lockwood, and went ahead just before half-time through Georgina Neilson.

Town started to pass the ball well, but were struggling to break down the Pogmoor defence, and the visitors levelled on 65 minutes.

Both teams were pushing for a third and Town managed to get it through Megan Mirfield, before Amy Thompson’s persistence brought a fourth.

Town head to Doncaster Rovers Belles on Saturday (11.00).

The Under 13s completed a clean sweep for Town with a 3-1 Sheffield and Hallamshire First Division win at Wickersley Youth.

Amy Broomhead put Town ahead against the run of play on 10 minutes and Eleanor Smith made it two with a fine solo effort on 25.

Wickersley pulled one back with a penalty just before half-time and attacked strongly in the second, when Imogen Pow played a key defensive role.

Broomhead grabbed her second to seal the win for Town, who head to Sprotbrough and Cusworth on Saturday (11.00).
