Sean Scannell and Danny Ward remain Huddersfield Town players after both being linked with deadline-day moves.

Scannell was a target of Millwall while Blackpool and Wolves were after his fellow wide player Ward.

Sources in South London suggested a bid of £300,000 from Millwall for Scannell.

While Wolves wanted to take his fellow 23-year-old Ward on a free, Blackpool are believed to have offered £400,000.

But the pair, both out of contract at the end of this season, remained at Town, and both trained at PPG Canalside this morning.

Millwall finally landed Spanish midfielder Angel Martinez from Blackpool.

But the Tangerines were unsuccessful in any of their attempts at squad strengthening.

Crystal Palace, who were at one stage said to be interested in Town defender Lee Peltier, who skippered Leeds under Neil Warnock, ended up signing three players.

Warnok broke the Eagles’ transfer record by spending £7m on Wigan midfielder James McArthur.

The 26-year-old looked set to join Leicester City last week, but the Foxes pulled out of the deal after signing Esteban Cambiasso instead.

Town’s Championship rivals Wigan were hoping to keep hold of McArthur, but he was keen on a return to the Premier League.

McArthur joined Wigan from Hamilton Academical for £500,000 in 2010 and won the FA Cup with the Latics in 2013, although they were relegated from the Premier League the same season.

Palace also signed Wolves striker Kevin Doyle and Spurs defender Zeki Fryers.

Republic of Ireland international Doyle, 30, has joined on loan until January while former Manchester United youngster Fryers has moved for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old, who made 16 appearances for Spurs after joining the club for a reported £3m in January 2013, has signed a three-year contract.
