Chris Powell says Huddersfield Town have plenty to play for this season – starting with Saturday’s home derby against Rotherham United.

Town are 11 points above the Championship drop zone, but the boss says there will no question of his players stepping off the gas, especially after successive defeats on the road.

Powell’s side crashed 3-0 at Charlton last Saturday and 4-1 at Brentford on Tuesday and are 16th in the table.

After their last home game, the 3-0 win over Reading, they were 12th, and the manager said: “We want to get back to that level or higher still.

“The season certainly isn’t over, I’ve told the players never to assume they are safe in the division, and we need to build some momentum.

“We have had a downturn in terms of results, but we have to come out of the other side.

“We have to produce far more of the good play we have shown at times this season.”

Rotherham, in 21st, are six points above the drop zone, but Powell pointed out: “They know that Wigan (in 22nd) have picked up a couple of wins of late.”

Centre-back Joel Lynch (groin) is back in training and pushing for a place while Powell is hopeful left-back Jack Robinson (knee) will make it, but striker Nahki Wells (shoulder) is unlikely to figure.
