FOOTBALL'S generation game will be played out at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday.

While Town will parade an array of emerging young players, Oldham will field the oldest outfield player in the Football League.

And it will be a special day for David Eyres, as the match takes place on his 41st birthday.

The Oldham Supporters Trust - who have watched their team lose seven matches on the trot and concede 16 goals in the last four - have laid on a celebration dinner to mark the occasion.

Oldham's players will go straight from the stadium to the event, when the player's 17-year pro career with Blackpool, Preston, Burnley and Oldham will be the subject of festivities.

Oldham, incidentally, are without suspended midfielder Neil Kilkenny, who is on loan from Birmingham, so Mark Bonner could take his place.

In goal, Les Pogliacomi - who was outstanding in Oldham's 2-1 win against Town back in December - has lost his place to Steve Mildenhall.

The experienced Mildenhall, who let in five at Bristol City on Tuesday after taking over the gloves, also let in five when playing against Town Reserves for Notts County at Meadow Lane in November (John McCombe scoring a hat trick).

Alex Bruce, son of former Town manager Steve, will be in the Oldham side at full-back this weekend.
