JACK HUNT says Town are determined to clinch Championship safety by ending the season with a third consecutive win in Saturday’s high-stakes home derby against Barnsley.

The John Smith’s Stadium club are hoping to break the 20,000 attendance barrier after making the lunchtime showdown all-ticket.

Barnsley, who need a win to be sure of avoiding the drop to League I, have sold out their 4,000-strong allocation for the 12.45 contest.

And Town, for whom a point will be enough to stay up, are hoping the Huddersfield public will turn out in force.

Tickets can be bought up to 5.00pm on Friday and chairman Dean Hoyle said: “It’s a massive game and I believe the atmosphere will be right up there with the best we’ve had.”

Hoyle was heartened by Saturday’s 3-1 win at Bristol City which lifted Town to 18th place on 57 points, three ahead of Barnsley, who occupy the third drop spot.

Town will be hoping Crystal Palace can deny Millwall a victory in tonight’s derby at The New Den, therefore keeping the Lions in the relegation equation.

Should Town lose, they will be relying on one of Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough and possibly Millwall not to win.

But right-back Hunt says sights are set very much on three victories in a row for only the second time this season.

“If you asked the players if they’d produced as many good performances as they wanted, I don’t think there would be many who would say yes,” he said.

“Too many of us have been off form too often this season, but we can at least finish consistently.”
