Jack Payne says he’s more than ready to tackle whatever Huddersfield Town’s Scandinavian training camp throws up.

The midfield signing from Southend United is among five new first teamers who report back on Friday.

Payne, keeper Joel Coleman, defenders Michael Hefele and Chris Lowe and midfielder Ivan Paurevic will also join existing members of David Wagner’s squad.

They will undergo a series of fitness tests before flying to Sweden for the five-day trip.

The boss is deliberately keeping details of the camp under wraps.

But the German has previously said the focus will be on bonding and teamwork.

“We will have new faces and we need to bring a good team spirit and a good dressing room,” he explained.

Payne said: “I’ve met a few of the lads already, but this is my chance to get a feel for the group as a whole.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season and finding out what Sweden involves.

“I’m expecting something a bit different, but I like to think I’m up for a challenge!”

Town will return to England on Tuesday and then train at PPG Canalside.

Their first friendly is away to National League side Guiseley on Wednesday, July 6 (7.45).
