TOWN'S Young Terriers are set to launch their 21st anniversary season with the full backing of new manager Peter Jackson.

The YT's are looking for new members as they approach their first meeting of the season at the Sports Centre on Saturday (Noon) before Town kick-off their Division III campaign against Cambridge.

And Jackson has promised more visits from players as the club's junior supporters - aged eight to 13 - enjoy their pre-match activities.

"I remember from my time here as a player how popular the Young Terriers were and it's something I wholeheartedly support," said Jackson.

"It's a great way for youngsters to get involved in supporting the club, they have some great activities and excursions and they also have their own supervised section at the stadium for our matches.

"Hopefully we are going to have a successful season, so it would be a great time to join the Young Terriers, have some fun at their meetings and then come on down to the McAlpine to get right behind the team."

It is £5 for Saturday's first meeting, when members will have the choice to play five-a-side, table tennis or swimming.

"We had an average of 35 to 40 at last season's meetings and we are looking for more," said chairman Steve Brooks.

"In addition to all the games and activities, we provide a lunch at the Sports Centre, match programmes and then transport down to each game, where we have a special section of seats, and there's plenty of noise to be made!

"We would like to get up to at least 50 members each home game and, as it's a great chance for young supporters to meet the players at our regular meetings and the Christmas party, we would like to welcome any new people to come down on Saturday."

Details are available from the club on 01484-484100.
