Joel Lynch has his eyes on a Huddersfield Town hat trick as he prepares to visit a former club for the second game in a row.

After Nottingham Forest on Saturday, it’s Brighton and Hove Albion, where the Wales international centre-back began his career, on Tuesday.

A point will wipe away any chance of Chris Powell’s 16th-placed side being relegated, but Lynch wants to make it three wins in a row for the first time under the current manager.

“It’s been a season of ups and downs, but we’ve been playing well recently and now we are starting to get the rewards,” said the 27-year-old.

After beating Ipswich 2-1 at home on Easter Monday, Town won 1-0 at Forest, from whom Lynch joined Town in 2012.

“We have the chance to continue our winning run when we go to Brighton and obviously from my point of view it would be nice to get another good result,” he added.

“There are four games left and the aim is to finish on a high note, which would give us something to take into our preparations for next season.”

Lynch was delighted as Town kept an eighth clean sheet of the campaign against Forest.

“Forest’s form has been up there with the best in the league since their new manager [Dougie Freedman] came in,” he said.

“It’s always quite an intimidating atmosphere and obviously Forest are a massive club who were expected to win the game.

“I thought we produced a really disciplined performance. We kept the ball very well, created some good chances and could have won by more.”
