Huddersfield Town’s loaned-out striker Jordy Hiwula is celebrating a crucial first goal for Wigan Athletic.

The close-season signing from Manchester City capped an amazing Latics fightback in their League I game at Chesterfield.

The Spireites looked set for three points when they led 2-0 with 10 minutes to go.

But Leon Barnett pulled one back before Craig Davies levelled with a penalty.

Then Hiwula, who had come off the bench, struck in stoppage time to send Wigan ninth.

“I’m a very happy striker,” said the 20-year-old.

“Scoring my first goal for the club after hitting the bar with an earlier chance was really pleasing.

“As a striker, you have to carry on going, get a miss out of your head and go again.

“All the fans were jumping up and down when I scored, it was a crazy 10 minutes and the boys did really well to go to the end.

“That’s what can happen if you do that.”

Hiwula linked up with Davies impressively.

“We’ve got different attributes and work together well,” he added.

“For now my aim is to come off the bench, make a difference and get more match fitness under my belt and then hopefully get a starting place.”

Town defender Murray Wallace played his third game for Scunthorpe United against Blackpool.

But he couldn’t prevent the 19th-placed Iron going down 1-0 at Glanford Park.

Town midfielder Ben Holmes made his AFC Fylde debut as they won 3-1 away to Gloucester City in the National League North.

The Coasters are up to second ahead of Saturday’s home game against Tamworth.
