DEWSBURY Rangers stormed into the final of the Under 12 Cup with an emphatic 9-1 victory over Rastrick.

Division II outfit Rastrick have enjoyed a terrific run in the cup but they were simply overpowered by a Dewsbury team who still have a league and cup double target in their sights.

The pattern was set as early the second minute when Lewis Broadfoot chipped keeper Daniel Mashinter to give Dewsbury the lead.

Broadfoot was on target again five minutes later when a clearance deflected into his path and the striker made no mistake from 12 yards.

Rastrick were struggling to cope as Sean Smith add a third and Jamil Sair a fourth.

Sair went on to compete his hat trick and Rastrick were left with a mountain to climb when they reached half-time 6-0 down.

Rastrick improved in the second period and had they manage to convert their chances, it might have given them the inspiration to push on but, with just 15 minutes remaining, Broadfoot completed his hat trick to give Dewsbury a 7-0 lead.

Another two goals for Sair took the score to 9-0 before Oliver Greenwood netted a late consolation goal.

Dewsbury now go on to meet Hepworth United, who recorded a 3-1 win over Vision, in the final which will be played at the Canalside (Syngenta) ground on Sunday, May 8.

In the league, YMCA Under 11s recorded only their second win of the Division I season at Warley Rangers.

Warley scored three times to set a tough target for the Laund Hill side but replies from Lewis Fitzpatrick (2), Toby Womersley and Sam Jennings sealed a 4-3 victory and provided hope of clawing away from the relegation places.

In the top division of the Under 12 sections, a Guy Mayboy hat trick set Golcar on the road to victory over Linthwaite.

Linthwaite were unable to find a reply as Anthony Collingson added another two to secure a comfortable 5-0 win for Golcar, who have moved from the relegation area into fourth place.

But Golcar’s new-found form is unlikely to pose a threat to defending champions YMCA who, with only one defeat all season, remain firmly at the top thanks to their latest victory at Liversedge.

Sam Trevitt – the son of ex-Town player Simon – scored as Liversedge tried hard to upset the league leaders.

But replies from Eisley Swaine, Kaylem Billy and an own goal finally sealed the three points for YM with a 3-1 win.

Marsden’s Under 13 team kept their Division III promotion hopes alive in a 12-goal thriller against Hall Green United.

Relegation-threatened Hall Green will be wondering what they have to do to win a game after scoring five times away from home, but two goals each for Callum Ascough and Javian Adams and one apiece for Ryan Matthews, Joe Bingham and Luke Wood settled the issue 7-5 in the Colne Valley side’s favour.

In Division IV of the Under 13 section, Upperthong’s climb up the table continues after a confident 10-0 victory over Cumberworth.

Daniel Waldren (4), Ben Charlesworth (3), Alfie Higgins (2) and Aiden Harvey-Franklin ensured a comfortable win to leave Upperthong in with a good chance of promotion.

In the Under 15 Cup semi-final, Deighton’s hopes of repeating last year’s league and cup double remains a realistic target after their 3-1 semi-final victory over Meltham.

Meltham put up a superb display but, despite a Jack Thackeray goal, Deighton’s firepower proved too much and replies from Jamal Hanson, Bradley Birkhead and Tristan Thomas securing victory and a place in the final, where they will face either Brighouse Town or Skelmanthorpe, who meet at Leeds Road on SUnday (2.00).

In the Under 15 league a stunning strike from Alexander Stock, netting with a free-kick from halfway, ensured Almondbury Lions a 4-3 win over Honley in Division I.
