MOST of the RCD League Cup competitions are now back on track.

YMCA Under 12s knew they would need to be at their best to overcome First Division leaders Norristhorpe.

Chasing promotion from Division II, YMCA had already defeated BPA Juniors from the top flight in the previous round but, with only two defeats to their name this season, Norristhorpe were always going to be a big test.

An own goal did little to help the Laund Hill side’s cause and when Elliot Rayne doubled Norristhorpe’s advantage, there was no way back for YMCA.

Norristhorpe now face a meeting with Clifton Rangers, who found their way to the final by the narrowest of margins when they defeated Honley in a penalty shoot-out.

With the game tied at 2-2 after extra time, penalties were needed and Clifton won 6-5.

Hepworth United Under 13s are the only team to take any points from Dewsbury Rangers this season, but their hopes of upsetting the First Division leaders were already fading when two goals from Alex Newsome and one from Jamil Sair gave Rangers a 3-0 lead.

Hepworth struggled to get back into the game but further strikes from Aaron Rowe and Corey Joseph sent Dewsbury through to the final, where they meet Skelmanthorpe.

Another Hepworth side aiming to make a final were the U16s against Ossett Town.

Ossett’s Second Division promotion hopefuls were a potential banana skin for Hepworth’s title-chasing side, and the game remained delicately balanced until Sean Brennan’s strike late in the first half.

Ossett were unable to recover from the setback and further strikes from Andy Atkinson and Sean Hannon finally saw Hepworth safely through to the final, where they face Challenge, who pulled off a surprise result by beating Brighouse Town 3-2 in their fourth round match, or Netherton or Elland, who will play next week.
