Huddersfield Town’s new signing from German football is believed to be Kaiserslautern left-back Chris Lowe, a player well known to head coach David Wagner.

The John Smith’s Stadium club are remaining tight-lipped on the identity of the man concerned.

But sources suggest the 26-year-old will agree a pre-contract agreement and will move to England on a free transfer this summer.

Lowe previously played for Borussia Dortmund, where Wagner was in charge of the reserves.

He started his career at hometown club FC Wacker Plauen, of Saxony.

Lowe joined Chemnitzer before a £150,000 switch to Dortmund in 2011.

He made seven Bundesliga appearances when Borussia won the title and German Cup in 2012 and also played Champions League football for them that season.

Kaiserslautern paid £400,000 for his services in January 2013, when he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Town chairman Dean Hoyle has confirmed the signing of an unnamed player from a German club on a pre-contract agreement.

It will come as no surprise that Wagner wants another left-back.

While Australian international Jason Davidson was in the squad he inherited in November, two loanees, Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and Middlesbrough’s James Husband, have since featured in the position.

Town’s football operations chief Stuart Webber has made no secret of the club’s intention to dip into the European market when it comes to new signings.
