But the on-loan Aston Villa man is willing rival keeper Joe Murphy to keep a clean sheet and help Huddersfield Town win their FA Cup third-round replay at Reading.

While the 23-year-old is with Town for the rest of the season, he can be recalled by Villa in an emergency due to injury problems.

The Premier League club, who host Wycombe Wanderers in a replay, don’t want him cup-tied.

Steer, who played against Manchester United in the third round while on loan to Yeovil Town last season, said: “I obviously have to accept what Villa want.

“I knew the situation when I came back here and it’s not a problem.

“But I will still be at Reading to watch, and I’d like nothing better than for us to go through.

“We’re six unbeaten now and we want to keep the run going for as long as we can.”
