KIRKBURTON stormed into the third round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA Junior Cup with a 5-0 victory against South-Yorkshire-based Cooplands.

Right-back John Allison fired Burton ahead on 13 minutes when he unleashed a cracking shot from 20 yards.

Craig Bentley and Ryan Jagger both went close with shots inside 20 minutes as Burton set out their stall.

Steve Chandler brought a good save out of Cooplands keeper on 28 minutes but Burton's pressure paid off when neat passing down the left between Robert Barnes and Lee Bradley allowed Craig Bentley to deliver a great cross for Chris Parker to slot home.

Bradley tucked away the third from the penalty spot before half-time after he was brought down in the six-yard area.

Cooplands managed only one shot in the first half which didn't bother Dave Walsh in the Burton goal.

Burton were unrelently in the second half and soon added a fourth when Parker found himself one-on-one with the keeper and made no mistake.

Substitute Antoni Short went close on three occasions, the most spectacular being an overhead kick on 70 minutes which went straight into the keeper's midriff before Bradley nailed the fifth past the out-rushing keeper.

Kirkburton's second team were beaten 8-2 at Keighley Shamrocks with Jez Elson and Jason Good scoring for Kirkburton.
