Fulham manager Kit Symons came under fire following the 1-1 home draw with Huddersfield Town back in August.

The Cottagers might have climbed from 21st to 13th in the Championship since.

But reports from London suggest Symons’ job is under threat as he prepares for Saturday’s match at Middlesbrough, who are second in the table to unbeaten Brighton and Hove Albion.

Fulham enjoyed a thumping 4-0 home win over QPR last month, but then lost 3-0 at home to Wolves.

They drew 2-2 at Charlton Athletic last time out and are six points off the play-off places.

The capital club are desperate to regain the Premier League place they lost in 2014.

And if reports are to be believed, they would like former Town boss Steve Bruce to replace Symons.

Bruce, of course, is currently in charge of Hull City, another side eager to return to the top flight.

Having dropped down last season, they are fifth ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls, under Portuguese boss Carlos Carvalhal, hit form before the international break.

A run of three straight wins started with a 3-2 home success over Symons’ Fulham, with Brentford and Preston North End then beaten.

That has put Wednesday 10th, seven points behind Brighton, who have won six out of 10, but drawn their last three.

Next up for Chris Hughton’s men is a visit from Leeds United, who have lost their last two and are 16th.
