Huddersfield Town have landed Carlisle United youngster Kyle Dempsey in a £300,000 swoop.

The highly-rated midfielder will have a three-year contract in Chris Powell’s squad, with the club having an option on a further year.

Barnsley were leading the race for the 19-year-old, but he has opted for West Yorkshire instead of South.

Now Town, who were keen to bolster their midfield options after Conor Coady’s £2m sale to Wolves, will take Dempsey to their Spanish training camp but he won't be included at Guiseley tomorrow.

The player has been training with Carlisle, but hasn’t figured in either of their friendlies at Blyth Spartans and Workington.
