BRIGHOUSE Town FC have launched a new Ladies side for the 2013-14 season.

The team will start life in the North East Regional Women’s Football League North Division and will be known as Brighouse Town Ladies.

Run by first-team coach Rob Mitchell, the Ladies will compete in both the Women’s FA Cup and County Cup and start their season on August 25 in a league cup tie away at Rothwell.

League action starts on September 1 and pre-season training begins at the Dual Seal Stadium on Sunday, June 30.

Friendlies against Huddersfield Town and Guiseley are being planned, and Brighouse Town chief Paul Quinn has welcomed the new venture.

“It is something the club has been working on for a while and it just underlines the commitment we have towards making this a true community club,” he said.

“Rob (Mitchell) has been instrumental in bringing a ladies side to Brighouse Town and as club manager I welcome all our new players and officials to the club.”

The Ladies are looking for sponsorship to help fund their initial start-up costs.
