TOWN Ladies claimed a 3-2 comeback win at Bradford City to seal their Northern Women’s Combination survival and end their neighbours’ title hopes.

Town were trailing to home skipper Bridie Hannon’s well-struck free-kick at half-time, and City increased their lead early in the second half.

Gradually, Town gained momentum and were unlucky on 67 minutes when Kate Mallin’s free-kick hit the bar and Emily Heckler put the rebound over.

But two minutes later, Town pulled a goal back when a corner was cleared to the edge of the box and Katie Nutter lobbed home.

This gave Town renewed belief and in the 71st minute, Heckler was upended in the area, leaving player of the match Kate Mallin to put away the resulting penalty.

Bradford’s Caroline Omboyi hit a post before Mallin thumped home a late free-kick. Heckler then headed off the line to clinch the victory for Town, who visit Liverpool Feds on Sunday.

The Under 18s closed their Sheffield and Hallamshire Girl League campaign by thrashing Shaw Lane Aquaforce 12-0 to finish fifth.

Playing a controlled passing game, Town created plenty of chances but had to wait until the 21st minute to take the lead.

They grabbed three goals in six minutes through Jodie Berry, Alice Linsell and Mel Sutcliffe, and Georgia Hamilton made it four in the 43rd minute.

In the second half Town continued to push forward and added goals from Georgia Cooke and Hollie Douglas (two apiece) and Nicole Pachniuk.

Hamilton claimed her second and there was an own goal before Hayley Clarkson scored her first for the club, winning the player of the match award to boot!
