Don’t rush out to get the name Palmer printed across the back of your new Huddersfield Town shirt.

That’s the impression sources are giving following reports suggesting David Wagner is in the loan hunt for Chelsea teenager Kasey Palmer.

Town have known all about the midfielder since he scored against them in the FA Youth Cup two years ago and, like many other players of a similar ilk, have kept tabs on the 19-year-old.

A number of clubs have inquired about taking Palmer on loan for the 2016/17 season. It’s understood there is nothing imminent with regard to Town and no indication anything will happen inside the transfer window.

Wagner, of course, has already drafted in eight senior signings and has talked about bringing in two or three more.

One of those is a goalkeeper – with Liverpool’s Welsh international Danny Ward the name in the frame – and another seems certain to be a No10, with Town moving on from their interest in Jamie Paterson.

Palmer made the sub’s bench for Chelsea last season (he scored 16 goals all told) and has played for England right up to Under 21 level, helping them win the Toulon Tournament.

He’s twice been an FA Youth Cup winner, has an Under 21 Premier League title medal and was in the Stamford Bridge side which won the UEFA Youth League in the last two seasons.
