LEE CLARK reckons the return of Benik Afobe will be like having a new signing on board.

Town’s on-loan Arsenal striker has featured just once in the last nine games because of a nagging knee injury.

Now a series of injections and a period of rest seem to have done the trick – and boss Clark, whose side tackle Oldham in a League I derby at the Galpharm today – is delighted.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that Benik is a special talent,” said Clark of the 17-year-old, who has scored three goals in 14 games, six of them starts.

“When he initially sustained the injury, I don’t think he was sure how to manage it, and tried to keep playing.

“After early treatment between ourselves and Arsenal, we thought he was okay, but then he had another setback.

“This time, we’re optimistic we’ve got to the bottom of it, and the fact that Benik has had a period of rest as well means he should come back rejuvenated.

“Coupled with the arrival of Danny Cadamarteri, we now have two players with the attribute a lot of teams fear – pace and plenty of it.”

Sky Sports will be at the stadium tomorrow to film their popular ‘Take It Like a Fan’ feature.
